Recertification Requirements for Lapsed and Terminated Instructors

We will evaluate each reinstatement request on a case-by-case basis, and extenuating circumstances, length of prior CNWI status, continuing education, nose work instruction, etc. during the hiatus will be taken into consideration.  If you have any questions regarding reinstatement, please contact the Continuing Education Department at ceu@k9nosework.com.

Please note that all reinstatement and late fees are non-refundable.

Lapsed and Terminated Instructors
(within 6 months of original recertification due date)

If you are overdue and have a recertification due date within the last 6 months:
Please contact the Continuing Education Department at ceu@k9nosework.com to resolve your status. Steps will include:

  1. Pay the $75 reinstatement fee via the portal-generated PayPal invoice.
  2. Pay the $75 late fee
  3. Submit a minimum of 6 (six) NACSW-approved CEUs from nose work and/or general dog training/behavior continuing education events attended within the last 6 months of requesting reinstatement. Some approved recorded webinars can be purchased here: https://k9nosework.com/workshops/past-webinars/

Lapsed and Terminated Instructors
(6-18 months past original recertification due date)

If you are overdue and have a recertification due date between 6  and 18 months:
Please contact the Continuing Education Department at ceu@k9nosework.com to resolve your status. Steps will include:

  1. Pay the $150 reinstatement fee.
  2. Attend at least 2 days of an instructor course (day 1-8) at the reduced rate of $100/day.
  3. Submit a minimum of 12 (twelve) NACSW-approved CEUs from nose work and/or general dog training/behavior continuing education events attended since your original recertification due date.  Some approved recorded webinars can be purchased here: https://k9nosework.com/workshops/past-webinars/

Lapsed and Terminated Instructors
(1.5-3 years past original recertification due date)

If you are overdue and have a recertification due date between 1.5  and 3 years:
Please contact the Continuing Education Department at ceu@k9nosework.com to resolve your status. Steps will include:

  1. Pay the $150 reinstatement fee.
  2. Attend segment 1 OR segment 2 of an instructor course (day 1-4 or 5-8) at the reduced rate of $100/day.
  3. Pass the online mid-term OR final exam (depending on which segment you attend).
  4. Submit video of you giving a brief lecture explaining the process of Intro to K9NW, Intro to Odor, Intro to Exteriors and Intro to vehicles (approx. 5 mins per Intro segment)
  5. Submit video of you instructing an Intro to K9NW class including brief lecture to students and showing 2 dogs from the first session/first runs plus those same dogs from week 5 or 6. (approx. 1 minute per dog per run).
  6. Submit a minimum of 12 (twelve) NACSW-approved CEUs from nose work and/or general dog training/behavior continuing education events attended since your original recertification due date.  Some approved recorded webinars can be purchased here: https://k9nosework.com/workshops/past-webinars/

Lapsed and Terminated Instructors
(3-5 years past original recertification due date)

If you are overdue and have a recertification due date between 3 and 5 years:
Please contact the Continuing Education Department at ceu@k9nosework.com to resolve your status. Steps will include:

  1. Pay the $150 reinstatement fee.
  2. Attend segment 1 AND segment 2 of an instructor course (day 1-4 and 5-8) at the reduced rate of $100/day.
  3. Pass the online midterm and final exams.
  4. Submit video of you giving a brief lecture explaining the process of Intro to K9NW, Intro to Odor, Intro to Exteriors and Intro to vehicles (approx. 3-5 mins per Intro segment)
  5. Submit video of you instructing an Intro to K9NW class, showing 2 dog/handler teams in the first session (2-3 runs each) plus 2 runs of the same teams in week 5 or 6. (approx. 1 minute per dog per run).
  6. Have 2 students submit instructor evaluations online: k9nosework.com/instructor-evaluation-form
  7. Submit a minimum of 12 (twelve) NACSW-approved CEUs from nose work and/or general dog training/behavior continuing education events attended since your original recertification due date.  Some approved recorded webinars can be purchased here: https://k9nosework.com/workshops/past-webinars/

Lapsed and Terminated Instructors
(5+ years past original recertification due date)

If you are overdue and have a recertification due date past 5 years:
As the instructor program is constantly evolving and being updated, you may need to go through the full instructor certification program at full price and successfully complete all instructor certification program requirements in order to achieve CNWI status again.
