K9 Nose Work® blends the foundational skills used in K9 detection with a unique teaching style that promotes individuality and relationship building between dogs and their people, providing a lifetime of rewarding experiences. The K9 Nose Work® training method has also proven to be an exceptional enrichment activity and behavior enhancement tool for those working in the shelter and rescue system or with special needs dogs.
Only the most passionate, talented, and knowledgeable people become CERTIFIED NOSE WORK INSTRUCTORS (CNWI℠). The certification program teaches candidates the philosophy, concepts, and training methodology for the activity and sport of K9 Nose Work®.
The INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM is an in-depth educational program designed to enhance the nose work class experience for both the dog and human student. K9 Nose Work® is for those wanting to share the fun and success of K9 Nose Work® for dogs of all shapes, sizes, needs and skills.
The INSTRUCTOR COURSE consists of 8 live online training days spread over two course weekends (segments 1 & 2), video submissions of K9NW instruction, hours logs, and demonstration of practical experience as well as other course requirements. Instructors-in-training have 2 years from day 1 of the course to complete the requirements. Instructors in good standing also have access to instructors-only materials and resources.
This is a comprehensive program designed to incorporate all the foundational principles of the K9 Nose Work® methodology to take dogs from the basics of independent hunting development through trial preparedness and beyond.
All Certified Nose Work Instructors℠ have demonstrated the skills necessary to train a dog and handle it in competition, as well as the ability to teach other dogs and handlers the activity and sport of K9 Nose Work® from beginning level to advanced.
