Sue McKinney, MSW, CNWI

Education
Duke University, Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Lauda
University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Masters in Social Work

Background
As a Master in Social Work, Sue brings a unique perspective to her dog training practice. She focuses on teaching the human side of the partnership how to better understand their dogs and hence communicate and train more effectively. Through lively, fun exercises and lectures, she helps handlers figure out the reasons behind the behavior leading to greater acceptance and appreciation of the dogs we own.

Sue was the first CNWI in North Carolina and has taught K9 Nose Work classes to hundreds of students beginning in 2010. In addition, Sue has competed with multiple dogs earning the Elite Champion title with her border collie mix, Smudge and her Tibetan Terrier, Louie. Sue was lucky enough to compete in the 2017 NACSW Nationals with Smudge. Sue has competed with six different breeds of dogs including one dog reactive canine. As such, she has a personal understanding of the excitement and stresses encountered in NACSW competitions with a variety of canine partners.

Sue loves to teach and looks forward to working with teams to improve their skills and working relationships. Sue is the owner of Dog Fun Forever, LLC.
